Dulþs Alareikis

Information

Name Meaning: From the Gothic word dulþs (“feast, celebration”) and the name of Gothic King Alaric I. Dulþs Alareikis means “Feast of the King of All” or, alternatively, “Feast of Alaric.”
Date: The full moon of Anstimenoþs.
Deities Honored: Teiws, Alaric.
Activities: Reidarjos celebrate Alaric’s unifying kingship that saved the Visigothic peoples from self-destruction. Offerings are given to Teiws, who is the progenitor of the Balthic dynasty, and to Alaric as a mythic ancestor.
Offerings: Standard offerings.
Associated myth: The people who would become the Visigoths are tearing apart, either through internal conflicts or external subjugation. Troubled by these events, Teiws enlists the help of His nephew Balþa to elevate a king amongst the humans who will do what no king has done before. Balþa chooses Alaric, a descendent of Teiws Himself, to unite the Visigoths.
